No Turning Back

I knew
I knew
this
would be the day
that I would
take the step
that could serve
to change my life.

Like a spell
being whipped up
and cast by a Shaman
there was no
turning back
no
turning back
to the way
things had been
in the place
I had called home.

As a hunter
follows the trail
of the hunted
and light follows
the darkness
of the night
I knew
I knew
I had to follow
the path
that stretched
before me
to that new place
and that new life
I had chosen.
