Note: I posted this poem a couple of years ago and it seems even more appropriate at this time.

I am losing my massage therapist! It’s true. Some may think think is something not worth posting. I assure you it is. You see, she and I were chatting for a few minutes before she started pounding on my body. We were talking about improving ourselves and how it seems to take a lot of work.

“It’s like polishing a stone,” she said.” That is all it took before my mind began to write the poem.

Polish the Stone (for Bonnie)
We walk
… some more than others
We walk
…and pick up stones along the way
We walk
…and pick up round stones
We walk
…and pick up square stones
We walk
…and toss back the square stones
We walk
…and keep the round stones
We walk
…and do keep one square stone
We walk
…and begin to shape that stone
We walk
…and find that it is not easy
We walk
…and work harder at polishing
We walk
…and realize the stone is smoothing
We walk
…more and more and more
We walk
…until the square stone is round
We walk
…until the stone is polished
We walk…
