the door remains open…
Renewal
The highs have been many,
the lows even more
during a life in the shadows
of what could still be
even with the doubts and insecurities
tugging at both sides
of my being without retreating.
Where do I turn to
hold onto the promise of a future
without regret and
without the missteps of the past
in an effort to attach
to the glow of the light
with the key being
held in sweaty palms?
A key almost too heavy
with fear and failure
and hints of broken promises
amid the scars
of misguided love
and hands never held
afraid of the passing
from one to the other.
The door remains open
for the one in need
of a deed unremarkable
in its presence
and forever in the hope
of renewal of spirit
renewal of a future
without past constraints.
