I know I’ll find exactly what I need…

travel, journey, intimacy, new roads, poetry on medium, poetry

Signals

The signals flash with subtle strength
as I look to the side the window is ajar
beckoning with a twisted rod and reel
to pack my bags and travel far.

To go where I have never been
with no possessions to call my own
I will travel free — and follow the wind
with nothing to tie me down.

I have been through it all…
while both happiness and sorrow lag behind
remaining physically and mentally intact
what else could there be to find?

Lessons have come painfully at times
and with no rhyme or reason lines are drawn
to remind me to hold back, take a breath, relax;
while with each day comes a new dawn.

I can’t do it all — I know this to be true
yet there is frustration and concern
when respect isn’t duly offered…
and tokens of affection are spurned.

But if I take a moment in my life
to reach deep inside my heart
I know I will find exactly what I need
with love… as the reward.
