The Sun Still Rises
In the leaving
came the
understanding
that is leading
us into a future
of deeper
appreciation
and respect
for there is no
expectation
of responsibility
or feigned duty
to complete
this task or that.
The road has been
long and arduous
with many treacherous
and unforgiving twists
that led us
down a path
of confusion
and doubt
only to bring
us to a future
where control
is not mentioned
or auctioned off
to the strongest
bidder.
The sun still rises
above the horizon
while we live
separate lives
that serve to enable
us to grow into
who and what
we are meant to be.
