Even though this poem was written with a dear friend in mind after the loss of her husband, I am also reminded of the loss of the mother of my children to a double-barreled attack of ovarian cancer. We always remained friends even though we were divorced and when she was diagnosed with the second attack, I asked our oldest son if she wanted to see me. I heard her in the background responding…
