You Know the Drill

I know it has been a while. No excuses, just a bit tired. Tired of too many deadlines… too many clients paying not enough money… too many times of saying yes, when I should have said no.

You know the drill.

Then, yesterday, an interesting thing happened. I signed off on the last of those draining deadlines. Once that happened I experienced a release. A kind of empty feeling. Definitely not a negative but a happy empty.

We all know, however, that there is always a lesson. There is always the thought, “What should/could I have done to make this experience better?”

I needed the clients. I needed the money.

Sound familiar? Right!

For several months I struggled to find solutions to challenges I faced, regarding completing a couple of those assignments.

As I slogged through “solution” after “solution,” I seemed to be diving into a murky hole with no return.

It was only when I took a day off. A complete day off. No research. No stress (that was tough). No thought about the jobs pending.

When I “returned” to work the next day, I discovered the challenges were much easier to be met with success.

By not being inundated with this… or that, I could focus on each task on its own terms, research…
